Choose a theme before a route
For contemporary culture, consider OCT-LOFT and a neighborhood-focused day. For urban views, choose a park or waterfront area and one viewpoint. For electronics, specify whether you want to browse or have a particular buying task. Each focus needs different preparation and guide knowledge.
Group your stops geographically
Mark your priorities on a map before booking a guide. Shenzhen’s districts are spread out; several famous place names can make a surprisingly fragmented day. Ask for estimated door-to-door travel, not just the time spent on the train, and allow for the walk between stations and venues.
Keep indoor and outdoor alternatives
A waterfront walk and a gallery visit respond differently to heat or rain. Check exhibition dates and venue access, and choose a backup that is actually near your route. Do not assume a creative district means every studio welcomes walk-in visitors.
Define the guide’s role
Ask whether the guide’s experience is in design, urban history or markets. Confirm the language, meeting area, hours, transport costs and what happens if a venue is closed. If shopping is part of the day, agree on your goals and any commissions or extra charges in advance.
Planning suggestions, not live operating information. Confirm access, reservations, opening times and transport with official sources before travel.
